Layer vanilla wafers and bananas in baking dish. Mix sugar and flour; stir well. Beat in egg yolks; stir in milk and vanilla. Cook in double boiler until as thick as desired; cool. Pour over bananas and wafers. Beat egg whites; spread over pudding. Bake in 425 degree oven for 5 minutes or until meringue is brown.
