Mix together water, sultanas, walnuts and almonds in a saucepan and bring to boil. Reduce heat simmer for 5 minutes.
Cool Cream butter and sugar. Add egg. Beat well. Add vanilla. Add sifted flour and baking powder to creamed mixture. Add fruit mixture. Blend Thoroughly. Pour into well buttered 20cm square tin.
Bake at 180 degrees C for 30 minutes.
